The Coast Guard is establishing a safety and regulated navigation area on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal near Romeoville, IL. The temporary final rule places navigation and operational restrictions on all vessels transiting the navigable waters located adjacent to and over the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' electrical dispersal fish barrier system. -

Safety testing on the Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Dispersal Barrier is expected to commence on Thursday, August 13, 2009, and is estimated to take two additional days. The Coast Guard will be enforcing a safety zone encompassing all waters of the ChicagoSanitaryShip Canal from mile marker 296.1 to mile marker 296.7.
